img The HKBU School of Business organised the 4th World’s Got Talent @HKBU Contest to celebrate cultural diversity and strengthen global awareness on campus. The Grand Final was concluded on 15 March 2021 via online livestreaming, showcasing a mix of onstage and virtual performances with online voting to engage audience across the world.

Prof. Gerard Prendergast, Associate Dean (Internationalisation) of the School of Business, emphasised the importance of a diverse environment for students’ academic and personal growth, and encouraged students to embrace and learn from others, especially during these challenging times, to nurture responsible and global perspectives.

The contest received 36 entries from 47 local and international students across various HKBU faculties. Ten finalist teams were selected to compete in the final round, in which a team of three students from the Faculty of Arts scooped the Gold Award with their sensual and passionate string trio of Libertango. The Silver and Bronze Awards went to students of the School of Business, namely, twin brothers Ho Him YAM (Year 2, BBA Economics & Data Analytics) and Ho Yin YAM (Year 2, BBA Finance) with their perfectly in tune beatboxing performance, and Bella Indah SANUSI (Year 1, Master in Human Resources Management) for her impassioned public speaking.  The beatboxing team was also the winner of the Audience Choice Award from the online voting during the contest.

The contest also featured a magic performance by Mr. Louis YAN, the world-renowned magician and a HKBU distinguished alumnus, and a dialogue session with all 16 final contestants. The students shared their stories of collaboration, their artistic inspirations and their experience of life under the COVID-19 pandemic.
