What is the admission period?
Application for the 2022 intake will commence on 30 September 2021. The application deadline will be on 1 April 2022.
How much do the programmes cost?
The tuition fee for 2022 intake is HK$298,000 (for non-local applicants) and HK$228,000 (for local applicants). However, tuition fee does not cover the cost of textbooks or other course materials.
How can I submit my application for admissions to the MScBM Programme?
Applications can be submitted online or in person to the Office of Graduate School (Room 904, 9/F, Academic and Administration Building, Baptist University Road Campus, HKBU) or by mail to the above office.
Is the admission interview mandatory?
Yes, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend admission interviews online.
Do I need to take GMAT?
GMAT is not required, but highly encouraged. A satisfactory GMAT score will serve as supplementary information in the selection process.
Am I required to take TOEFL or IELTS Test?
If English was not the medium of instruction for the first degree, applicants are required to provide evidence of English proficiency, e.g. English standard with a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based) or IELTS overall band score of 6.5 or qualifications deemed to be equivalent.
I have not taken the TOEFL or IELTS Tests yet, should I submit the application?
You can submit your application prior to taking the exam, but you should specify the tentative test date on the application form. The Admission Panel, in any case, needs to have your relevant test results before an admission offer can be made.
When does the programme start?
September of each year.
How many courses am I required to complete?
You must complete 11 courses (equivalent to 33 credit units); out of which 6 are core courses (3 units@), 2 are required courses (3 units @) and 3 are elective courses (3 units@).
Can I apply for exemption or credit transfer?
As the MScBM is a pre-experience Masters level programme, in order to maintain cohesion and integrity of the student cohort and the programme, there will be no admissions with advanced standing or exemptions.
Will I be able to join the exchange programme?
Yes, students can join the exchange programme, if the applications are approved by the Programme Director and place is available from the partner institutions.
Do I need to pay extra tuition fee for the exchange programme?
No, but the expenses for flight, accommodation and cost of living during the exchange are to be borne by the students.
I am a non-local applicant. What are the entry arrangements for me to take up my study in Hong Kong?
The Hong Kong Immigration Department requires all full-time non-local students (from overseas or the Chinese Mainland) to obtain a student visa in order to study in Hong Kong. Applications should normally be made at least two months in advance.
For applicants from the Chinese Mainland, the student visa applications should be submitted through the University. Applicants will be informed of the details once they are given the admission offer.
For applicants from overseas, they should make their own enquiries about the student visa requirements from a Chinese Embassy in their local Government, or by writing directly to: The Immigration Department, 7 Gloucester Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong. Students who have encountered difficulties in nominating a local visa sponsor may approach the Graduate School for assistance.
Is the tuition fee paid in a lump sum or by installments?
Tuition fee is paid by 2 installments for full-time programme. The first installment will be paid according to the deadline stated in the offer letter. The second one will be in December.
When are the classes held?
Most courses are held on weekdays (both in daytime and evenings) on campus in the first semester. Elective courses, which are taken by full-time, part-time and exchange students, might be held on weekends in the 2nd Semester.
Will the University arrange on-campus accommodation for non-local students?
Students can arrange the accommodation via our Student Affairs Office. Students can choose to live at the Dr. Ng Tor Tai International House, a 3-star hotel situated on the campus or the off-campus accommodation. However, since only limited rooms are available, accommodation will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
Are there any scholarships/awards for MScBM students?
Yes, we offer varous scholarships / awards to new entrants with distinguished qualities to pursue full-time MScBM study, including the International Postgraduate Scholarship, MScBM Diversity Contribution Scholarship and MScBM Entrance Award.

Is financial assistance available?
Local students can apply for the Government’s Continuing Education Fund and non-means tested loan.
